Out Runner is a synthwave music project created in 2023 with the idea of crafting a perfect soundtrack for a story invented by the author, featuring Jigen, a bounty hunter who leads a second life as a wandering musician in the desolate cyberpunk world.
“The Escape” serves as the second track of this project, showcasing the artist’s evident high-quality work right from the start. Though I have limited information on the artist’s true identity, it’s evident that their prior experience in music composition and production is reflected in this exceptional piece.
Musical Analysis
As stated by the artist, the project is a fusion of various musical influences such as Synthwave, Cyberpunk and Rock.
While the darker and distorted cyberpunk influences are barely noticeable in these early tracks, the rock influences become evident, especially towards the end of “The Escape.” After starting with the classic, sweet, and nostalgic synthesizer sounds, the scene is then powerfully seized by guitars that produce both strong and highly melodic tones.
The percussion is of excellent quality, powerful and decisive, yet it manages not to overshadow the other melodic elements of the track. Spacious arpeggios accompanied by emotive atmospheric pads create a truly evocative atmosphere that will surely appeal to any lover of the retro/nostalgic genre.

Rarely do we come across a project so meticulously crafted in every tiny detail, and I must say that the Out Runner project stands as a shining example of how creativity in today’s world finds its ultimate expression in the independent realm, free from the chains of the mainstream.
The overall quality of the entire project, beyond just the music, is of a level I didn’t think possible, and as a fellow creative mind, I admit to feeling a bit envious, in an admiring way, of the mind behind it all.
Out Runner not only creates music of the highest quality but also boasts a website that could put many so-called “professional” sites to shame, with custom illustrations and even an entire “story” section where Jigen’s saga is told like a high-quality comic book.

“The Escape” is more than just a simple instrumental track: it’s a small piece of a much larger project, encompassing high-quality music, boundless creativity, illustrations, and imagination.
In its own way, it evokes feelings of magic and power, making it a satisfying yet incomplete track, leaving the desire to discover what the next step in the story will be.
